Welcome. You belong here. You’re in a safe presence.

From Survivors, For Survivors

The Chosen Family is a platform for survivors of emotional abuse, built by survivors of emotional abuse. The intention is to offer a space where one can feel at home without having to be someone they’re not.

A place to experience all the joys, love, and care that the world can give, with the belief that everyone deserves it.

Why We Exist:

Emotional abuse shakes the foundation of one’s trust in oneself. Who does one turn to, when even their own self feels distant? It is deeply destabilizing to have one’s self-worth be erased in the name of ‘love’. Trusting to love again becomes difficult, because when it came, it came with the ask of disappearing oneself.

When it’s unsafe to be who we are, we become what helps us survive. We tuck away, cautiously, our curious, playful, loving, courageous, confident presence.

This is a place where you can reclaim it. TCF is built on the values of love, community, safety, security, and trust. Here, you don’t have to choose between loving others and loving yourself. This is you, and your community.

Disclaimer: This is a gentle reminder that psychoeducational content is meant to educate and empower people to understand what emotional abuse is, how to identify it, and how to deal with it. It does not aim to replace professional psychological or legal support in any way, as that is tailored to your specific context.
